N2 - In this work, parameters of the equivalent circuit of a small induction motor with gearbox are experimentally extracted using standardized tests. Such parameters are used to formulate the nonlinear dynamic model of the motor in the d-q frame. To demonstrate the validity of the resulting model, a nonlinear multivariable sliding mode controller that uses the extracted parameters in its formulation is employed to control the induction motor speed.
