Voladura S.A. is dedicated to the manufacture and export of explosives. In recent years, demand for one of its main products, cartridge emulsion, has been increasing. To meet the demand, it has had to incur overtime to consider opening a third shift of “emulsión encartuchada” production. However, it was found that the manufacturing machine is not utilized to its full capacity since it makes 3 line changeover stops per day. This thesis seeks to reduce unproductive production times through the application of the SMED technique oriented to the DMAIC methodology. To achieve this, first a study of the production process was carried out, the analysis of the information collected in order to implement improvements aligned to the reduction of unproductive time.
