Abstract

Several studies highlight the rapid growth of nuclear energy in the scientific field. In regards to the naval scope, three branches stand out: (a) naval nuclear propulsion; (b) nuclear cargo transport; (c) scientific research vessels with nuclear equipment. The purpose of the present study is to evaluate the reach of nuclear techniques in those three branches from a scientific research optic, technological development and application. The present study was realized applying scientometrics techniques using a SCOPUS database. Results present advances and developments in first-world countries. In nuclear propulsion, United States and England lead the dissemination of high-quality research. In Latin America, Brazil is the top exponent in nuclear propulsion. Peru does not present advances in the area, there is no SCOPUS evidence, even so it’s known, the principal activity in the naval nuclear industry centers in investigation projects like ANTAR in Antarctica.
