Abstract

This work proposes an approach to control continuous-Time SISO (Single Input Single Output) time-delay processes subject to output disturbances employing discrete-Time PI (Proportional plus Integral) LQR (Linear Quadratic Regulator) controllers. To demonstrate the validity of such approach, this work performs the control of SISO stable, unstable, minimum phase, and integrating benchmark time-delay processes. That is, processes that have been used by the researchers and published in the specialized literature to demonstrate various control approaches. The robustness of the designed time-delay control systems in the presence of varying time-delays is also addressed in this paper.
