Dr. Walter Sebastian Barrutia received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, United States, in 2019. He obtained his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Florida, United States, in 2025. His research focuses on the design, development, and experimental validation of passive knee exoskeletons for gait assistance, including the creation of instrumented physical models to quantify mechanical transfer and energy losses at the human-device interface.

He has participated in research projects in biomechanics and assistive robotics and has experience in mechanical design, advanced 3D printing, computational modeling, and experimental evaluation using biomechanical instrumentation.
