Vanessa Orihuela Munive

Mechanical Engineer with more than 15 years of experience in engineering, maintenance, and field service in the power generation and oil & gas sectors across Latin America. She is currently a full-time lecturer at UTEC and leads the Maintenance line within Mechanical Engineering, connecting academic training with industrial applications and needs. Her professional experience includes major maintenance planning and execution, project management, quality assurance, risk assessment, and coordination of multidisciplinary teams in power generation facilities. Her areas of interest include applied maintenance, reliability and asset management, as well as the integration of digital tools into engineering, design, and manufacturing. She seeks to strengthen university–industry collaboration through applied projects that integrate engineering, emerging technologies, and practical training, while progressively developing research activities focused on addressing real-world industrial challenges.
